I like the graphic on top!

Very cool graphic image for the RPGMapShare banner!

Did you create that yourself with some 3D software or something! I almost want to walk up to that castle and take a look around!

Yeah I did all that. The scene was created in Vue, using terrains and a free castle object. I had to squeeze the image from top to bottom for it to be something reasonably sized and not take up too much space.

Then added the text in Photoshop. The compass rose was from the CC3 object set for DJ users.

Hmm

Not sure if it would work well. I'll have to come up with some variation.

Should there be gallery for, uhm, landscape shots? Most images are overhead (plan view?) and are appropriately called maps.

Not that I'm likely to make/generate any anytime soon but maybe others will.

I agree

I think it would be a good idea to have landscape shots - real photos for that matter along with modeled.

Pictures of rain forests or jungles (I could use something like this for a Xen'drik expedition)
Pictures of Prairies, woods, fields, waterfalls off in the distance, ravines, Creeks, lakes, oceans, etc..

Kinda neat to say "this is kinda what it looks like" because words don't always create the picture in the minds eye.

Might be beyond the scope

Of a mapping site, however. And people posting photos they're gathering off the web will bring up all sorts of copyright issues, I'm sure.
