What poses preferred for DAZ characters?
Hi SteelRat,
I've started tinkering with DAZ3D, so far just with freebies. If any of my attempts turn out to be worthwhile I can (eventually) post them here. Query is what types of figures, and how many poses of each would be of best use to RpgMapshare users? Also, would they be better ZIPPED into batches or individually posted?

Just from experience, if you have a handful of poses, individual files is fine. If you have, say, more than 10 of one character, I'd zip them and make a contact sheet, which you can add to the description (you'll have to place the contact sheet image on an image sharing site so you can reference it.)

Thanks for the info Steel Rat,
You may have noticed the use of a bronze statue version of the frebbie DAZ Millenium Baby, which is as silly as I intend to get(!) On 3D freebies found elsewhere on the net; some I'm finding are good, but most require some other program, or some existing model, so I'll probably end up buying a couple of the (Victorian?) period clothes sets for Micheal & Victoria. See how it goes...!
Yeah, saw that, lol.
Don't forget that DAZ Studio should be able to import OBJ and 3DS files, among other formats. That doesn't mean they'll work well, but that you can usually import them.

Hi again SR,
I'll look out for OBJ and 3DS in my searches. Found an anvil and a machete, but more importantly poses to hold the machete. Can't wait until the weekend to test out some more.
Second and last - honest - of the bronze Mannekin babys posted - Bogie has already suggested a non-statue version of the "beer fountain", which may be of more practical use!
Apologies Steel Rat,
I made some error in uploading a file (I think uploading a paint.net instead of a .png of the same name) and could see no options of deleting it or uploading the correct .png to replace it.
It is here - I'd be obliged if you could delete it please:

On my attempts with DAZ 3D - found caveman clothes that I can get to work but the basic hair styles look ridiculously clean and the models do not have hairy legs. So defeated (for now) I went off at a tangent: there was some mention about secretaries for the Help Desks so I made some.
No problem about the failed upload, it's deleted.
Cool about the secretary, and the cadaver, hehe.

Hi again SR,
Looking back the last two weeks I've bombarded you with DAZ stuff, with only a pretence at quality control, but as I've just found a site with lots of 3D underwater stuff, frogmen, and flamethrowers, it looks like there may be more...
Meanwhile settled on about four figures per "set" (walking, melee, shooting, fallen) with the occassional extra if it looks ok; so they'll go on individually. Will try not to put on anything you already have.
Sounds good. And a little duplication won't hurt. They'll be different enough that they could be used together.
Steel Rat
Sorry SR,
Accidentally left the latest batch of Indian weapons with programming style underscores in the names. I know you prefer spaces for wrapping purposes, but hopefully the names are short enough for this not to matter.
Heaps more 3D's still to render. Starting to get the hang of it now. :)
PB.
I didn't see an issue, but thanks for thinking about it.

Hi again SR,
Added the first batch of DAZ SCUBA divers. I agonised for a whole minute over wether they should be in Modern Characters, but decided they looked more at home in the Naval section with the submarines (?)
Discovered other frogman stuff include spear guns, diffent breathing gear, and underwater vehicles. I've also found some swimming poses, so may send some existing characters to the seaside. So more variants to follow...
They should go in characters, since they're people.
Steel Rat
Doh!
It was obviusly far too difficult for me to simply ask first...
