How do I...

How-To link to an image here from another site.

Generally this type of thing is frowned upon, sometimes known as Bandwidth theft. The preferred method of linking is to navigate to the page here which contains the image, and copy the URL. Then paste that URL into a link on another site as needed.

However, I understand the need to sometimes link to just an image. Here's how to do it:

  • Navigate to the page containing the image you wish to link to.
  • Right-click the image and select
    • Copy Image Location (firefox), or
    • Properties, then copy the Address(URL) section of the properties page to your clipboard (IE).
  • Then paste that URL into the forum or website where you wish the image to appear.
Please comment here if you have any questions.

Viewing the Latest Updates

Added a new feature, View Latest Updates.

This lets you see which gallery items have been added or updated recently. The main link to view updates is under the Gallery Navigation on the left side of the home page.

This link is Album context-sensitive. This means that if you're inside a specific album, you can click the link and see only updates for that specific album (and it's sub-albums). for example, if you just want to see new maps, click the All the Maps album, then click View Latest Updates from the left side navigation. You'll be presented with a listing of the most recently added maps only.

How do I upload gallery items?

From the main gallery page, navigate to the album appropriate to the type of map or object you wish to upload. Once inside the album, click the Add Item link on the left Gallery Navigation bar. From there you will be prompted to upload one or more files. If you enter information into the Caption fields, it will be applied to the images you upload. Once you have uploaded your images. Edit each one individually by clicking Edit Photo in the left navigation bar, and provide more complete titles and descriptions.

While editing you also need to specify the Usage restrictions for your item. click the Custom Fields tab and choose Personal Only or Personal and Commercial for the item. You may also add additional usage restrictions or requirements in the item Description, which displays at the top of the page when the item is viewed.
